The visitor center is built into a hillside, so the gift shop and exhibit space are partly underground (cool inside, even in summer). Rangers post the day's wildflower bloom map, current trail conditions, and any trail closures for bighorn lambing.
Good place to grab a Galleta Meadows sculpture map and a Coyote Canyon access update. Open most weekends year-round; weekdays seasonal — call ahead in summer.
