Trailhead is ten minutes from the motel. The first mile and a half is open desert — ocotillo, brittlebush, the occasional barrel cactus — then the canyon walls close in and you walk into a fan-palm grove. After a wet winter, Maidenhair Falls runs at the back of the canyon.
This is a longer, hotter walk than Borrego Palm Canyon and gets less foot traffic. If you want the desert mostly to yourself, this is the one.
